FMC "Common Desktop" Connection

 

INSTRUCTIONS:
Welcome to the FMC "Common Desktop" Connection Page. When you are ready, click Connect to the right. You are about to access a private network. All access to this network is logged. When the connection page opens, Enter your username and password that you use when you are in the hospital. Default is Full-Screen, and is suitable for most users. Full-screen will consume your entire desktop until you disconnect. Having Problems Connecting? • Internet Explorer 6 users: Click the install button, when it asks you to install the Terminal Services Client, or if you see a gold bar appear asking to install a Active X component, click the bar and install it.
  
• Internet Explorer 6 & 7 users: 2 things MUST be done so the ActiveX box does not keep telling you that the Remote Desktop ActiveX could not be installed and so the Connect Button appears.

• 1. You MUST add our site as a “trusted site”, (Click on TOOLS near the top of the browser, click INTERNET OPTIONS, click the SECURITY TAB, click on TRUSTED SITE {green check mark} and then click the SITES button below, uncheck the {Require server verification (https:)......}, and type http://fmccd.fmchealth.org in the box if not already there then click ADD. 
• 2. You MUST also enable Microsoft Terminal Services Client ActiveX. To do so, go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, PROGRAMS TAB, click the Manage Add-ons button, scroll down to the Microsoft Terminal Services and make sure its Enabled, if not, click the Enable bullet and click OK. Close your browser and reopen the FMC Common Desktop connection page.
  
• Common Printing Issue: To print to a printer that uses a port that does not begin with COM, LPT, or USB (typically these are multi-function printer devices that use DOT4 ports), go here http://fmccd.fmchealth.org/tsweb/printer.zip and click Run. Double click the printer.reg file and reboot your pc. This will enable DOT4 printers to be mapped in the terminal server.

If the Troubleshooting steps above do not work in getting the Microsoft ActiveX component installed, download this file FMC Common Desktop.rdp and save it to your desktop. This will be a direct connection to the Fairfield Medical Center Common Desktop. (Click the link, click run, run, click Browse... button, Select Desktop, OK, Unzip, OK, Close)
